What is this"bio-enzyme"? Bio-enzymes are naturally derived, multi-purpose cleaning agents that can be used for a wide range of applications, including household cleaning, laundry, agriculture, and even personal care. They are environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and effective at breaking down organic matter, stains, and odours. And, IT IS SO EASY TO MAKE!!!
This bio-enzyme is made from peels of lime, orange, or mosambi. Collect the peels in a container kept in the fridge and when there is enough, make your own bio enzyme!!
How do you make it? Here is the list of Ingredients you need;
- 1 part jaggery (Make sure the jaggery cubes are cut into small pieces to ensure they dissolve quickly)
- 3 parts lemon or lime or mosambi or orange peels
- 10 parts water. (You can use a cup, mug or vessel to measure your ingredients according to your needs).
These are the steps you follow;
- Heat the water in a vessel and start adding jaggery.
- Keep stirring till all the jaggery is dissolved.
- Once dissolved, let the solution cool till it reaches room temperature.
- Meanwhile, add the peels to a plastic bottle / bucket (make sure you use a plastic bottle because it will allow the gases formed during chemical reactions to expand. This is also a great way to reuse disposable or old plastic bottles/buckets in your house).
- When the jaggery solution attains room temperature, add it in the bottle along with the peels.
- Close the lid and keep this bottle / bucket away for the next 90 days
- The first batch of bio-enzymes takes about 90 days to prepare. The next batch, however, can be quickened if you use a part of the old batch with the fresh one.
- After the bio enzyme is ready strain the liquid into bottles and it is ready to use!! (the peels go into your wet-waste bin or compost)
YIPPEEEE!!! You have made your own ECO-FRIENDLY CLEANER. I use it for many things, to clean the washrooms and sinks, I dilute it and use it as a fertiliser+pesticide for my plants and spray it to just get a fresh smell!!
