Key Announcements:

Councillor Ward Development Fund: 70 crores has been allocated which means each of the 200 wards in Chennai will get 35 lacs under councillor ward development fund. This year, the budget has been increased by 5 lacs from 30 lacs to 35 lacs.

Digitised street boards: Each streets in the 200 wards will have digitised street boards.

Sanitary Napkins to girl students: Chennai school girl students to get free sanitary napkins under “Nirbhaya Fund”.

Battery Operated Vehicles: 795 battery operated vehicles to be bought for the waste collection and management.

Medical Camps: Special medical camps to be setup for the conservancy workers periodically.

Gender Diversity & Internet: Corporation schools to get internet facility and gender diversity groups.

Non-recyclable waste to cement: Training to be given to process the non-recyclable 2600 metric ton waste to be sent to cement factories.

Coconut waste to be recycled: 54K metric ton of coconut waste is to be recycled and reused.

Breakfast in school: Chennai corporation school students to get breakfast in the morning.
