Many participants shared that they are worried about EVs because of fire hazards and safety concerns that are getting reported in the media.
This is a work in progress, but definitely a deterrent for people who might be considering buying EVs in the present.
The Union Road Transport Ministry had asked the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was asked to investigate electric two-wheeler fire incidents. DRDO found serious defects in the batteries and suspected that the manufacturers may have used “lower-grade materials to cut costs”.
Following this, National Standard Body of India, Bureau of Indian Standard released stanards for Test Specifications for Lithium-ion Traction Battery Packs and Systems for Electrical Vehicles.
